Bill Gusky

Artist, writer and teacher Bill Gusky has exhibited throughout the northeastern United States, and his work is featured in private collections across America. During his early years he was privileged to experience the riotous signage, architecture and strip malls of St. Louis County’s defense contract-bloated suburbs, and the rust and slag piles of rural Northwestern Illinois coal towns.

After his marriage to a scientist and the birth of his children, Gusky completed his BFA degree at Pratt Institute, where he studied under Rudolf Baranik, Cyrilla Mozenter and Richard Pugliese. During those Brooklyn years he also assisted artist Marcia Hafif and artist/explorer Reid Stowe.

Since graduation, Gusky has continued developing artistically, while also teaching at public schools and colleges, writing fiction and non-fiction, and working in the children’s multimedia field. He began his blog, /Artblog Comments,/ in 2004, as a means of redacting comments he’d written to the posts of art blog writers.

His blog has since taken on a life of its own; it now details his cultural observations, mental reckonings with contemporary art issues, updates on developments in his own work, and reviews of exhibitions in galleries and museums in New York, Boston, and Connecticut.
